Science and Technology Basic Plan
The Science and Technology Basic Plan, based on the Science and Technology Basic Law enacted in November 1995, aims to comprehensively and systematically advance science and technology policy. The government formulates the basic plan based on anticipating the next decade, putting into effect science and technology policies over a 5-year period.
The 5th Science and Technology Basic Plan
The 5th Science and Technology Basic Plan was endorsed by a Cabinet Decision on January 22, 2016. The basic plan covers the 5-year period between FY2016-FY2021. Japan’s science and technology innovation polices will be promoted based on the 5th Science and Technology Basic Plan.
