MEXT Logo

The MEXT logo symbolizes a compass. It represents MEXT’s role to promote creating a future full of hope by advancing policies in education, science and technology, sports and culture. The top half of the circle represents MEXT’s course of action, showing MEXT’s sincere and passionate devotion towards performing its duties without ever losing sight of its mission. The straight lines which radiate from the center towards the bottom half of the circle represent MEXT’s openness towards society. At the same time, the simple, friendly design also lets people freely associate the logo with various other images such as humanity, the earth and others.
The basic colors of “azure” and “sky blue” are hues which have been familiar to the Japanese people since ancient times. “Azure” represents a strong will, grace and knowledge, whereas “sky blue” represents sincerity and expansion into the future.

The MEXT logo was created in January 2008 when MEXT moved into the new building, as a part of its measures towards advancing communication between MEXT and the nation. MEXT will advance its duties, always bearing in mind the meaning behind the logo.
