Chapter 5. Promotion of Scientific Research
8. Promoting Scientific International Exchange

For the development of scientific research, an indispensable element is the free exchange and cooperation between researchers across borders of nations.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Culture, therefore, endeavors to promote scientific international exchange and cooperation in various forms, including international joint research, exchange of researchers, international research meetings, and science information exchange.

Also with the United Nations University, which is the only UN agency headquarters in Japan, the Japanese government is cooperating by offering the use of facilities for its headquarters and assistance in research and training programs.
