Chapter 5. Promotion of Private Schools
Section 2. Measures to Promote Private Schools
4. Loans from the Japan Private School Promotion Foundation

The Japan Private School Promotion Foundation provides long-term low-interest loans to supply private schools with funds for equipment and facility improvement and other requirements. The purpose of this program is to improve the educational and research conditions and contribute to the management stability of private schools. In fiscal 1994 the foundation planned to increase its lending by 7 billion yen over the previous fiscal year, to 94 billion yen, in response to recent trends in the demand for funds by school corporations and other factors. Loan conditions have also been improved, including the establishment of a preferential system for projects to modify facilities for use by the disabled.
