5 Promotion of University-Industry Research Cooperation

Recently, universities are increasingly expected to meet diverse expectations and demands from various social sectors concerning the solutions for practical problems. It is important for universities to respond adequately to these social demands as far as possible, while, of course, retaining their initiative and their original mission of scientific research. In their cooperation with industry, universities make use of their accumulated achievements and research abilities, and by doing so, they are able to make contributions to society on one hand, and to obtain useful stimuli for their research activities on the other. From such viewpoints, universities make efforts to engage in cooperative research with industry according to their specific goals.
