Chapter 5. Promotion of Scientific Research
3. Training of Young Researchers

The training and securing of creative and capable young researchers who will be responsible for future scientific research in our country has become a pressing issue, in view of the increased need for creative, advanced scientific research in rapidly developing scientific research.

Attempts have been made, therefore, to improve education and research at graduate schools, to provide fellowships for Japanese junior scientists through the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science and post-doctoral fellowships for research abroad with emphasis on overseas research exchange, and to offer foreign researchers with research opportunities in Japan through post-doctoral fellowships for foreign researchers.
