2. Aid to Private Schools
(2) Subsidies to Private Elementary and Secondary Schools
The government provides prefectures with subsidies for the improvement
of private elementary and secondary schools on national scale together with the
financial support in the form of the Local Allocation Tax. In FY 1989, this amounted
to \ 75.5 billion, an increase of \ 2 billion from the previous fiscal year.
Subsidies are also granted for emergency repair of buildings of private elementary
and secondary schools.
