(2) Enrichment of Career Guidance

Career guidance in schools shall instruct and assist students in the individual selections and decisions concerning future careers. Recently, however, concerns are expressed regarding the extensive use of deviation values of achievement test given by commercial ventures in the career guidance at lower secondary schools, resulting in insufficient consideration of the desires and the overall ability and aptitude of each student.

According to a 1988 survey concerning the current status of career guidance, it is implemented organizationally and programatically in schools, and yet the insufficiency in the training of teachers and information materials has also been revealed.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Culture is promoting measures relating to career guidance, by enriching the content of career guidance as prescribed by the new Course of Study, by making the purpose of the enriched content fully understood among people concerned and by improving and strengthening workshops on career guidance.
