Section 2 Educational Reform Q&A
Q2
Educational Reform at the University Level

At the university level, reform aimed at cultivating the ability to pursue subjects (the ability to discover a future subject and make appropriate decisions related to the subject from a broad perspective) is being promoted based on the "ability to learn and think for oneself" acquired through the end of the upper secondary school level.

In particular, numerous ideas and improvements are being contributed toward improving the quality of education at the undergraduate level. These include curriculum reviews, implementation of small-group education and the introduction of strict grading systems.

Reform is also progressing at upper secondary schools, where diverse education is carried out. Thus, in universities, detailed guidance is being offered and supplementary classes are being held in subjects that were not learned at upper secondary schools, in order to enable all entrants to begin university education smoothly.
