Chapter 2. Towards the Enrichment and Spread of Culture
6 The Global Spread of Japanese Language Education
3. The Future of Japanese Language Education
(4) Coping with an increased demand for Japanese language education abroad

As concerns the training of foreigners to become Japanese language teachers, along with improving the training program offered by the Japan Foundation, it is necessary to increase the number admitted into universities by, for example, increasing the current number of foreign students accepted into programs related to Japanese language education. From another angle, the program for sending Japanese language teachers abroad needs to be drastically expanded. A registration system for those requesting to be sent abroad should be considered to allow a systematic and continuous dispatch of native Japanese language teachers.
