The present "National Standards for the Operation of Japanese Language Institutes" is in need of revision. For example, those who plan to establish new Japanese language institutes should be required to be on firm financial footing (ownership of land, building, etc.) and the post of head teacher should be clearly defined. Enhancement of assistance to the Association for the Promotion of Japanese Language Education is also necessary.
