Organisms, including humans, are exposed to diverse environmental factors known as the exposome. Conversely, organisms influence the external environment through metabolites and other biological processes, as well as through human industrial activities. Recent research has brought to light factors within the bidirectional relationship between organisms and the environment that significantly impact ecosystems and human health.
This strategic goal aims to elucidate the interactions between organisms and the exposome at multiple levels, generating insights into intergenerational health impacts, organismal adaptation, and the effects of biological activities on ecosystems. Furthermore, it will explore possibilities for interventions and controls that contribute to reducing health risks, conserving ecosystems, and ensuring a safe and stable food supply. Through these efforts, we aim to contribute to extending healthy life expectancy and realizing a sustainable society.
