Elucidation of stress responses and pathogenic mechanisms

Overview

Preventing the onset of diseases caused by various mental, physical, and chemical forms of stress existing in society and the environment is essential for improving the quality of life of all citizens. However, since it is difficult to grasp in detail the biological responses to various stressors and there are many unclear points regarding exposure to stress and the mechanisms of pathogenesis, it has not been possible to prevent the onset of diseases by detecting the biological danger signals of exposure to stress at an early stage. Because of that, this objective aims at gaining a scientific and comprehensive understanding of the responses to stress on both a cellular and individual level as well as the elucidation of pathogenic mechanisms by promoting joint research through the close collaboration between basic and clinical researchers.
