Overview

In Japan the development of cell manipulation technologies and the elucidation of new cellular regulatory mechanisms have made rapid strides in recent years. Particularly in regards to cell manipulation technologies, Japan has put priority on not only the life sciences such as genome editing technologies but also on applications in fields like medical care and agriculture that can greatly contribute to society. Moreover, since the sufficient understanding of the cellular regulatory mechanisms, which is the basis for the development of cell manipulation technologies, is essential, this objective will promote in tandem both the elucidation of cellular regulatory mechanisms and the development of cell manipulation technologies. The objective aims at creating new knowledge and innovation regarding cellular regulatory mechanisms through the development of cell manipulation technologies and the development of innovative cell manipulation technologies by involving researchers from diverse research fields without specifying particular research methods or species in order to promote R&D through new approaches unseen up to now.
