  Academic societies and associations are voluntary organizations made up of researchers of organization such as universities.They play an important role in terms of research evaluation,and also information and personal exchange,beyond the framework of individual research organizations.Major contributions are made to the advancement of academic research through activities of academic societies such as the dissemination of the latest exceptional research results via academic research meetings,lectures,and symposiums,and through the publication of academic journals.

  To promote these types of activities by academic societies,Grant-in-Aid for Publication of Scientific Research Results which is one of the categories of Grants-in-Aid for Academic Research is awarded by MEXT to support activities such as international conferences held in Japan with the participation of overseas researchers;symposiums which provide youths and adults with information of the up-to-date research trends,and the publication of academic journals.
