Product(GDP)
R&D expenditures as a percentage of GDP show the level of
research investment.While the rate of investment in European countries has drifted
downward in recent years,the trend has turned upward in Japan and the United
States since FY1995.Japan continues to maintain the highest standard among the
major advanced nations,at3.29of GDP(3.09%,using the FTE) (Figure2-1-3) .
