(4) Lower Secondary School Art Appreciation Program


This program, for lower secondary school students and their parents, presents excellent performing arts in the schools in order to provide opportunities for art appreciation and expressive activities as a part of school education (special activities) and to encourage sound growth of the students. It was begun in 1984 when violence at school and at home was a serious problem. This program circulates to schools throughout Japan during schooldays in May, June. September, October and November, making their presentations in the gymnasiums or other places in the schools. In 1992, 72performances were given in 6 categories (including orchestra and bunraku),and 43 performances in 6 categories are scheduled for 1993.
