2 Assistance through the Japan Arts Fund


With the intention of strengthening the infrastructure of cultural and artistic activities in Japan, the Japan Arts Fund was established at the end of March 1990, with a government endowment of 50 billion yen which was included in the Ministry's supplemental budget for 1989 and private endowment expected to be raised up to 10 billion yen. With the income generated from the interest, the Fund is providing subsidies to a wide range of cultural activities, such as the performing arts, cinema, local culture and cultural properties.
