(2) Lifelong Learning Festivals

Since 1989, the Ministry has held an annual nation-wide lifelong learning festival with the aim of providing a large number of people with an opportunity to exchange experiences related to a general range of lifelong learning activities. The festival is intended to heighten public awareness of lifelong learning and to encourage people to engage in lifelong learning activities. From October 31 through November 4, 1992, the fourth festival entitled "Manabipia (Learning Fair) '92 in Miyagi" was held in Miyagi Prefecture with the general theme of "New Winds - Lifelong Learning" and with the local theme of "Learning, Let's Travel to Unknown Lands."
