Chapter 6. Promotion of "Social Education"
4 Provision of Diverse Learning Opportunities
(2) Learning Activities of Women

As our society has become more mature, the demands of women for learning have become advanced and diverse. The number of working women has been increasing, and the aspiration of women for participation in social activities and for the development of their personal capabilities has been increasing. In light of these social circumstances, the Ministry, which has promoted various education programs for adult women, is now committed to providing opportunities for advanced learning to these women through, for example, subsidizing the organization of "women's lifelong college" programs by prefectures and large cities in cooperation with universities. The Ministry is also committed to the promotion of women's social participation in the forms of volunteer activities and international exchange activities, the promotion of and assistance to women's group activities, the improvement of facilities for women's education, and the expansion of the information presentation functions of the National Women's Education Center.
