Part Promotion of Scientific Research

Research systems should always be active and continually upgraded, so that a high level of scientific research may be maintained. Accordingly, the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture has carried out the reorganization and conversion of research systems including those at universities.

Also, in order to facilitate cooperative research activities, the joint use of research facilities and equipment, and the mutual utilization of research materials and information, the Ministry endeavors to improve and expand the national inter-university research institutes, the research institutes attached to national universities which are available for joint use to researchers from different universities, and the research facilities for national joint use.

The Ministry also encourages the mobilization and activation of research systems by setting up expanded research units and divisions, promoting visiting professorships and fellowships, allowing endowed chairs and divisions, establishing limited term research units, etc.
