1 Number and Size of Schools.
(3) Kindergartens


As of 1975. there were 13,108 kindergartens, including 47 national, 5,263 local and 7,798 private. Since there were 8,551 kindergartens in 1965, their number is found to have increased by 4,557 during the last decade.

In terms of distribution of the number of local and private kindergartens in 1965 and 1975, classified by enrollment, the number of local kindergartens has been growing in every category of size in general, with the biggest increase shown in those with 100 persons and under enrolled. The number of private kindergartens with 100 persons and under enrolled declined, but an appreciable increase was shown in the number of those in other categories of size.

Distribution of the number of local and private kindergartens classified by their size, is shown, in Table 4-6, in contrast to that of enrollment.

For local kindergartens, the proportion of those with 100 persons and under declined in tenns of both number and enrollment. On the otlter hand, the proportion of kindergartens in other categories of size grew both in number and enrollment.As for private kindergartens, the proportion in terms of both number and enrollment dipped for those witln 200 persons and under, but grew in general for those falling into otlher categories of size.
