In Japan, each school is responsible for preparing its own curriculum in order to attain the educational objectives and goals. In this situation, each school is called upon to prepare its curriculum in accordance with the Course of Study prescribed by national government and local standards, etc. defined by prefectural boards of education.
Next, while an outline of the mechanism of curriculum preparation in selected countries is shown in Table 2-1, it may be said that, in every country, educational administrative agencies of the national government or local governments assume their respective responsibilities and roles in curriculum preparation from a viewpoint of maintaining and furthering the universality of public education and educational standards.
