(1) Number of Entrants into Institutions of Higher Education and Rate of Student Advancement Thereto
b International Comparison of Rate of Student Advancement to Universities, Junior Colleges, Etc.
The percentage of students advancing to universities and junior
colleges in Japan is compared with that in several selected countries in Chart
1-21. It indicates that a considerable rise in this percentage was shown in all
of these countries during the l960s. With the beginning of the l970s, it continued
to rise in Japan, France and the Federal Republic of Germany, but turned downward
in the U.S.A. and remained unchanged in England & Wales.
