CHAPTER 5 EDUCATIONAL REFORMS IN DIFFERENT COUNTRIES AND THE FUTURE EDUCATION IN JAPAN
3 Future Education in Japan

Through the studies made in the chapters I to IV, it may be clear that the degree of quantitative expansion of education in Japan has been of considerably high level. But it has been pointed out, on the other hand, there is wide difference according to respective localities, there is much room left for the right school curricula and the discovery of pupils' abilities and aptitudes, improvement of the system of entrance examination, qualification of teachers and adequate physical facilities, and increase in educational expenditures.

In other developed countries, efforts have been made to promote education keeping harmony between need of individuals and that of society, and to aim at the advancement of the quality of education in addition to the quantitative expansion. At the same time, it is worth noting that educational reform or educational planning has been strongly promoted by the respective national governments.

In consideration of the foregoing problems, future development of Japan's education will be discussed.
