“The People’s Court – Take a Look inside a Courtroom Close to You” Central Citizens’ Public Hall, Nagasaki City
Through cooperation among the Nagasaki City Board of Education, the Nagasaki City Central Citizens’ Public Hall, and the Nagasaki District Court, a series of lectures was implemented aimed at local residents, titled, “The People’s Court – Take a Look inside a Courtroom Close to You.”
This lecture course invited judges from Nagasaki District Court and the like to act as teachers, and on six occasions the teachers provided explanations concerning the organization of the court and various court procedures. In addition, at various opportunities, such as a visit to an actual courthouse and participation in a mock trial, explanations were provided concerning the citizen judge system that is planned to be introduced nationwide in 2009 with the participation of the people.
