TICAD9（3日目）：あべ大臣がテーマ別イベント「未来をともに育む：グローバルなパートナーシップを通じた学校給食推進における日本の役割」及び本体会合の閉会式に出席、リベリアの教育大臣との会談を実施

  8月22日、あべ大臣が、アフリカ開発会議（TICAD9）のテーマ別イベント「未来をともに育む：グローバルなパートナーシップを通じた学校給食推進における日本の役割」（主催：教育のためのグローバル・パートナーシップ）に出席しました。

  開会挨拶では、本日の議論により、「知・徳・体」を育む日本の学校給食制度の蓄積が、アフリカの教育課題の改善にも資するよう期待しますと述べました。

  イベントでは、文部科学省から日本の給食制度の紹介を行うとともに、アフリカ関係者から各国における給食事情や子どもを取り巻く食の課題などに関する講演がありました。

  また、同日、リベリア共和国のジャルソ・マリー・ジャラ（Jarso Maley Jallah）教育大臣と会談を行いました。両大臣は両国間の児童生徒・学生や教員の交流、リベリアの高校生（特にSTEM分野）や初等教育段階の児童生徒（特に就学率の低い女子）に対する支援などについて意見交換をしました。

  あべ大臣は、TICAD9本体会合の閉会式にも出席しました。3日間にわたり、アフリカ各国との連携強化に向けて様々な会合及びイベントが行われたTICAD9が閉幕しました。

【TICAD9 Day 3: Minister Abe Attends Thematic Event on School Meals and Closing Ceremony; Bilateral Meeting with Liberia】

On August 22, Minister Abe participated in the thematic event titled “Feeding futures: Japan’s role in advancing school meals through global partnerships”, hosted by the Global Partnership for Education, as part of the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9).
In her opening remarks, Minister Abe expressed hope that Japan’s accumulated experience in its school lunch system—fostering “knowledge, virtue, and physical health”—would contribute to addressing educational challenges in Africa.
The event featured a presentation by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) on Japan’s school lunch system, alongside lectures from African representatives on the state of school meals and food-related issues affecting children in their respective countries.
On the same day, Minister Abe held a bilateral meeting with Liberia’s Minister of Education, Jarso Maley Jallah.
The two ministers exchanged views on student and teacher exchanges between the two countries, as well as support for Liberian high school students—particularly in STEM fields—and for girls in primary education, where enrollment rates remain low.

Minister Abe also attended the closing ceremony of the TICAD9 main conference, which concluded after three days of intensive discussions and events aimed at strengthening cooperation with African nations.
