TICAD9（2日目）：あべ大臣がテーマ別イベント「日本とアフリカの高校生による科学技術ワークショップ」、「アフリカにおけるAMEDの取り組み」に出席

  8月21日、あべ大臣がアフリカ開発会議（TICAD9）のテーマ別イベント「日本とアフリカの高校生による科学技術ワークショップ」に出席しました。

  ワークショップでは、「サステナブルな食」に焦点を当てた日本とアフリカの高校生たちのディスカッションが行われ、参加した高校生は、それぞれの国のサステナブルな食の例を挙げながら、フードロス問題を解決する方法や環境負荷の少ない植物性タンパク質の食材へのシフトなどについて活発な議論を行いました。

  あべ大臣はこのワークショップを通じた「革新的な課題解決策の共創」が、両国の将来を担う若者たちの相互理解を深め、日本とアフリカの協力の基盤となることを期待する旨を述べました。

  また、同日、TICAD9のテーマ別イベント「アフリカにおけるAMEDの取り組み」に出席し、開会挨拶を行いました。

  イベントでは、日本医療研究開発機構（AMED）がこれまで支援したアフリカ諸国と日本の国際共同研究の取り組みを紹介し、「切れ目のない連続的な支援及び連携強化」と題したパネルディスカッションが行われました。

【TICAD9 (Day2) : Minister Abe Attends Thematic Event “S&T workshop by high school students from Japan and Africa” and “AMED Initiatives in Africa”】

On August 21, Minister Abe attended the thematic event of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) titled “S&T workshop by high school students from Japan and Africa”.

The workshop featured discussions between Japanese and African high school students focusing on “Sustainable Food”. The students actively debated on ways to solve food loss issues and shifting to plant-based protein ingredients with low environmental impacts, citing examples of sustainable food in their respective countries.

Minister Abe expressed hope that the “Co-create Innovative Solutions” through this workshop would deepen mutual understanding among the young people who will lead the future of both countries and serve as a foundation for cooperation between Japan and Africa.

On the same day, Minister Abe attended the thematic event of TICAD9 titled “AMED Initiatives in Africa” and delivered the opening remarks.

At the event, the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED) introduced its international joint research initiatives with African countries that it has supported, and a panel discussion titled “Seamless and Continuous Support and Strengthening of Collaboration” was held.
