文部科学省とエジプト教育・技術教育省間の意向表明書署名式

  文部科学省では、8月20日から横浜で開催されるアフリカ開発会議（TICAD9）に向けて、アフリカ諸国との連携強化を図るべく、昨年12月に省内 PT を設置し、文部科学省における対応について検討を進めてまいりました。その取組の１つとして、8月19日、文部科学省とエジプト教育・技術教育省間の教育協力と人材育成についての意向表明書（LOI：Letter of Intent）署名式を行い、あべ大臣とアブデル・ラティーフエジプト教育・技術教育大臣が出席しました。

  意向表明書の主な内容としては、
・エジプト日本学校（EJS）の成果を基盤とした、エジプトにおける日本型教育のさらなる発展の促進
・技術・職業教育訓練（TVET）の強化
・特別支援教育を含む、包摂的かつ公平な質の高い教育の促進
・両国の教育開発に資するその他の相互に合意された分野
  について協力を推進することとしています。

  その後の懇談で両大臣は、本意向表明書に署名でき嬉しく思うと話すとともに、あべ大臣は、「今後は、本LOIに基づき、特活を中心とした日本型教育を実践するエジプト日本学校（EJS）への支援、職業教育、特別支援教育をはじめとした分野において協力を進め、定期的に政策対話等を実施しながら、両国の協力関係を深化させていければと思っています」と述べました。
  そして、アブデル・ラティーフ大臣は、
「5月のあべ大臣のエジプト訪問に心より感謝します。あべ大臣の訪問もあり、両国関係が更に深まりました。EJSは非常に成功しており、今後は、EJSだけでなく日本型教育を更にエジプトに取り入れていきたいと考えています。そして、日本型教育の良さをエジプトだけでなくアフリカ諸国にも紹介し、広めていきたいと思います。」と述べられました。

[Signing Ceremony of the Letter of Intent between the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan and the Ministry of Education and Technical Education of Egypt]

In preparation for the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9), which will be held in Yokohama starting August 20, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) has established an internal project team in December last year to strengthen collaboration with African countries and has been discussing its approach.
As part of these efforts, on August 19, a signing ceremony was held for a Letter of Intent (LOI) between MEXT and the Ministry of Education and Technical Education the Arab Republic of Egypt regarding educational cooperation and human resource development. Minister Abe and Minister of Education and Technical Education Mohamed Abdel Latif attended the ceremony.

The main contents of the LOI include:
・Building upon the achievements of the Egypt-Japan Schools (EJS) and promoting further development of Japanese-style education in Egypt
・Enhancement of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET)
・Promotion of inclusive and equitable quality education, including support for special needs education
・Other mutually decided areas that contribute to educational development in both countries

During the subsequent discussion, both ministers expressed their pleasure in signing the LOI. Minister Abe stated:
"Based on this LOI, I hope we can deepen our cooperation in areas such as support for Egypt-Japan Schools (EJS), which practice Japanese-style education centered on special activities, vocational education, and special needs education. I also hope we can hold regular policy dialogues to further strengthen our bilateral relationship."

Minister Abdel Latif responded:
"I sincerely appreciate Minister Abe’s visit to Egypt in May. Thanks to that visit, our bilateral relationship has deepened further. The EJS has been very successful, and moving forward, we hope to incorporate Japanese-style education more broadly in Egypt. We also aim to introduce the strengths of Japanese-style education not only to Egypt but to other African countries as well."
