米国商務省主催の日米の大学と企業間のAIに関するパートナーシップの署名式

  ４月９日（現地時間）、米国に出張中の盛山大臣は、米国商務省主催の日米の大学と企業間のAIに関するパートナーシップの署名式に参列しました。パートナーシップは、一つは筑波大学とワシントン大学、もう一つは慶應義塾大学とカーネギー・メロン大学が連携して、NVIDIA社、ARM社、Amazon社、Microsoft社など関連企業との間で締結するものです。

  盛山大臣は、本署名式において、様々な分野でのAI活用が広まる中、文部科学省においてもアカデミア・国立研究開発法人の総力を結集して、我が国の研究力・産業競争力を強化するための取組を進めているとし、
「本パートナーシップが、日米両国のイノベーション、経済安全保障等の分野を主導すること、及び、両国の人と人との絆を強化することに貢献することを強く期待します。」
と述べました。

On April 9 (local time) during a business trip to the U.S., MEXT Minister MORIYAMA Masahito attended a signing ceremony hosted by the U.S. Department of Commerce on partnerships in Artificial Intelligence (AI) between U.S. and Japanese universities and companies. The two new research partnerships in AI are between the University of Tsukuba and the University of Washington, and between Keio University and Carnegie Mellon University. The partnerships are supported by the private sector including NVIDIA, Arm, Amazon, and Microsoft.

At the signing ceremony, Minister MORIYAMA said, as AI technology is growing in use in various fields, MEXT is also promoting measures to strengthen Japan’s research and industrial competitiveness through combining the resources and efforts of the academia and national research and development agencies.

The minister said he strongly hopes these partnerships will contribute to lead on Innovation and economic security in the U.S. and Japan and fortifying people to people ties between the two countries.
