Based on the questionnaires asked to specialists in each field, the National Institute of Science and Technology Policy made, in May 2005, a report on the long-term prospect of the development of science and technology in Japan.

 According to the report, by around 2030, the following technologies are supposed to be used in society and major advancement is expected in the effort to cope with society with its decreasing and aging population.
