Section 5: Expectations for a New Science and Technology Administrative Framework
In January 2001, at the beginning of a new century, the government
ministries and agencies are to be reorganized, and the science and technology
administration is to be promoted under a new framework. Under the General Science
and Technology Council of the Cabinet Office, a framework to strategically promote
science and technology is developed while academia and the basic research fields
will be fused under the Ministry of Education and Science.
