2. Japanese Language Dissemination and Education


The Agency for Cultural Affairs has produced a series of videotapes that employs audio and visual effects to teach and disseminate the Japanese language. The series is titled Utsukushiku Yutaka na Kotoba wo Mezashite (Towards a Beautiful and Rich Japanese Language). It serves to stimulate thought about language by including simple explanations of various language issues.

The Agency also holds research council meetings on Japanese language issues and conducts public opinion surveys regarding people's perceptions of the Japanese language (See Figure 2-8-4 ).
