Five-Day School Week and Nationwide Implementation The next stage is the implementation of a semimonthly five-day school week. Starting in fiscal 1992, research and surveys have been conducted at pilot schools regarding the phased introduction of the five-day school week. This section describes this research and analyzes trends in public opinion and parental views. It also examines the nationwide implementation of the semimonthly five-day school week.
