1 Promotion of Cultural Property Conservation Science


The National Research Institutes of Cultural Properties, located in Tokyo and in Nara, are organs of the Agency for Cultural Affairs, and have been set up for the promotion of basic study which contributes to the conservation of cultural properties. The goal of these institutes is to conduct research on cultural properties in multiple fields using an interdisciplinary approach, by blending the methods of natural science with the fields of archaeology, architectural history and art history.
