PART Recent Trends and Developments in Government Policies in Education, Science and Culture

In order to further encourage creative and pioneering scientific research and to actively contribute to the international advancement of scientific research, the Ministry is endeavoring to promote comprehensive and systematic scientific research from medium- and long-term viewpoints through the grants-in-aid system for scientific research and other measures. The Ministry also supports national inter-university institutes which have a central role in conducting research in fields recognized as being of special importance such as astronomical research, accelerator science, space science, fusion research, life science, and global environmental research and other fields.
