(2) Response to Information Oriented Society

Recent expansion in information in our country is remarkable. Computers have rapidly permeated into our offices and homes, and caused big changes in daily life. Being placed in such social changes, the need for school education to properly respond to information oriented society has been pointed out.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Culture revised the Course of Study in March 1989 to appropriately respond to information oriented society at elementary and secondary education level. The revised Course of Study stipulated the cultivation of the ability to utilize information in accordance with each school level and the characteristics of the academic subjects. In practical terms, this involves the consolidation of software for learning about computers and the training of teachers.
