(2)The revised Basic Policies for Novel Coronavirus Disease Control including revision of the Medical Treatment Period for Patients with Novel Coronavirus Disease

At the recent meeting of the Headquarters for Countermeasures against Novel Coronavirus Disease held on September 8, the "Policy Approach toward New Normal" was decided, and the "Basic Policies for Novel Coronavirus Disease Control" (hereinafter referred to as the "Basic Policies") were also revised.

In the recent revision of the Basic Policies, the medical treatment period for patients with COVID-19 has also been revised, so please refer to the attached "Revision of the Medical Treatment Period for Patients with Novel Coronavirus Disease" (the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW), administrative notification dated September 7, 2022) as well. Especially in schools, please note the following points:
     - Even after the termination of treatment, schools are required to take thorough measures to prevent infection until 10 days from the date of onset for symptomatic patients, and until 7 days from the date of specimen collection for asymptomatic patients.
     - Although it is allowed to go out to the minimum extent necessary such as buying groceries during the period of treatment, going to school during the period of treatment is not considered minimum necessary outings.

In addition, in relation to the revision in the Basic Policies, please note the following points which have not been changed from the contents announced in the administrative notification so far:
     - Teachers, staff, students, and others who have been confirmed to be infected with COVID-19 do not need to submit a negative testimony to the school in order to go to work or school after the termination of medical treatment.
     - However, when an asymptomatic patient is released from medical treatment after 5 days (the 6th day) from the date of specimen collection after the test result is confirmed negative, the school or its establisher may confirm the test result with an image of the test result.
