(1)Revision of Isolation Period for Close Contacts

      On July 22, 2022, the Novel Coronavirus Response Headquarters of the Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare (MHLW) issued a partial revision of the notification “Identification of persons in close contact with infected persons and implementation of behavioral restrictions at each location of outbreaks, and implementation of active epidemiological survey based on the characteristics of the strain with the B.1.1.529 (Omicron) strain while it is dominant” as the attached document.     

     The isolation period for close contacts has been revised as follows:
     - The isolation period for identified persons with close contacts to infected persons should be 5 days (lifted on the 6th day) from the last exposure date (the date of the last contact with an infected person, etc.).
     - In the case that the result of the antigen qualitative test kit is negative on the second and third days from the last exposure date, the isolation period can be lifted from the third day. 

     MHLW has also issued its announcement on the "Reduction of the burden on medical institutions and health centers to cope with the spread of infection in anticipation of the replacement of the Omicron strain with the BA.5 strain".

(2)Information on Additional (3rd dose) Vaccination against COVID-19

     The spread of COVID-19 is currently continuing among all generations, and there is a concern of further spread. Even under this circumstance, it has been pointed out that the additional (3rd dose) vaccination rate against COVID-19 is low among young people of teenagers to thirties.
     The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) has prepared a leaflet to promote vaccination, and you can refer to the attached document including it.
     We are sharing this announcement with you with the hope that it will be utilized as a reference for your consideration on your responses to COVID-19.
