On July 15, a meeting of Novel Coronavirus Response Headquarters was convened to formulate a "Response to the spread of infection based on the predominant replacement by the BA.5 strain”, as well as to revise the "Basic Policies for Novel Coronavirus Disease Control" (hereinafter referred to as the "Basic Policies"). Prior to this, the Subcommittee on Novel Coronavirus Disease Control held a meeting on July 14 to make three proposals: "Urgent proposals for the Seventh Wave of Infection", "Effective Use of Inspections to Prevent the Spread of Infection while Maintaining Socioeconomic Activities" and "Effective Ventilation to Prevent the Spread of Infection".
The attached document summarizes the main points of the revised Basic Policies based on the proposals issued by the Subcommittee on Countermeasures against New Coronavirus Diseases. We would like you to continue to take necessary countermeasures against COVID-19 according to the infection situation in your local communities with reference to the document.
In addition, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) just released its report on the "Conducting of Inspections of Persons Working at Facilities for the Elderly, etc." to prefectural health departments on July 15, which mentioned that elementary schools and kindergartens should also be considered to be included in the Intensive Implementation Plan of each local government. We would like you to continue to take appropriate responses to COVID-19, such as contacting with the local government in the area where your school is locate.
