(1)Countermeasures against COVID-19 at elementary schools and junior and senior high schools based on the Declaration of a state of emergency and the other measures
The Prime Minister of Japan has announced that the period of the Declaration of a state of emergency for Hokkaido, Ibaraki, Tochigi, Gunma, Saitama, Chiba, Tokyo, Kanagawa, Gifu, Shizuoka, Aichi, Mie, Shiga, Kyoto, Osaka, Hyogo, Hiroshima, Fukuoka and Okinawa Prefectures will be extended until September 30, 2021, and the Declaration of a state of emergency for Miyagi and Okayama Prefectures ended on September 12.
In addition, Miyagi and Okayama Prefectures newly designated as the areas where the Priority preventative measures should be taken during the period from September 13 until September 30, 2021, and the period of the Priority preventative measures for Fukushima, Ishikawa, Kagawa, Kumamoto, Miyazaki, and Kagoshima Prefectures will be extended until September 30, 2021.
Furthermore, the Priority preventative measures for Toyama, Yamanashi, Ehime, Kochi, Saga, and Nagasaki Prefectures ended on September 12, 2021.
We would like to announce that the Basic Policies for Novel Coronavirus Disease Control have been revised, in accordance with the above.
The countermeasures against COVID-19 at schools in the revised Basic Policies are as attached.

(2)Cooperation related to the implementation of the monitoring tests for early detection of the spread of COVID-19 at elementary and lower secondary schools
The Office for Novel Coronavirus Disease Control, Cabinet Secretariat has widely been conducting PCR tests (monitoring tests) mainly at offices, workplaces, dormitories, universities, and airports and others where the risk of infection is relatively high in order to detect signs of the repeated spread of infection and the source of infection at an early stage, based on the descriptions in the “Basic Policies for Novel Coronavirus Disease Control” formulated by the government.
In accordance with the Basic Policies has revised on August 25 that “prefectures encourage the teachers and staff on elementary and lower secondary schools to join actively the monitoring tests by the national government”, the Office requests that the teachers and staff on elementary and lower secondary schools consider joining actively the monitoring tests. Please find the attached file.
Therefore, if you agree with the purpose and objectives of these monitoring tests and cooperate to become a person to be monitored, please register for the monitoring tests on the following link.
