Teachers from UNESCO Associated Schools in Japan; representatives from prefectural and municipal boards of education; UNESCO Associated School collaborators (companies, NGOs/NPOs, PTAs, university students, education specialists, etc.); representatives from UNESCO Associated Schools in other countries (educators participating in the ASPnet Platform for Teachers, teachers participating in the ESD Rice Project); representatives from ASP UnivNet; interested members of the general public (domestic and overseas). Total: 800-1,000 persons.
The Conference will be an opportunity to review the efforts and achievements by UNESCO Associated Schools in Japan in regards to ESD during the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development, discuss measures for further developing ESD activities from 2014, and for ESD practitioners to share useful information and experiences about ESD. For this, the organizers will prepare a collection of excellent examples of ESD activities conducted by UNESCO Associated Schools in Japan, and distribute it at the Conference. In addition, a Conference Declaration will be drafted and adopted in order to promote the wider diffusion of ESD in Japan and enhance the activities of UNESCO Associated Schools in Japan.
Note: The collection of examples of ESD activities and the Declaration will also be made available at the UNESCO World Conference on ESD to be held in Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, on November 10-12.
