Consideration on some alterations to the mid to long－term objectives and plans of the Japan Atomic Energy Agency （JAEA）

Key points of proposals for consideration

（1）Based on the “Policy for Fast Breeder Reactor Development” and the “Government policy for handling ‘Monju，’” both decided in December 2016， at a meeting of the cabinet ministers charged with the nuclear power and the operation of ‘Monju，’ the operation of the fast breeder prototype reactor is not to be resumed and its decommissioning is to be promoted steadily according to the plan．

（2）Based on the decommissioning plan submitted in accordance with the instruction of the Nuclear Regulation Authority， the decommissioning plan for the Tokai Nuclear Fuel Reprocessing Plant is to be promoted steadily to complete solidification and stabilization treatment of high－level radioactive liquid waste up to FY2028．

（3）Based on the “mid to long－term plan” formulated by the Japan Atomic Energy Agency， as for the Japan Material Test Reactor （JMTR）， the operation of the facility is not to be resumed．
