Towards elucidating and predicting sex and individual differences and intrapersonal changes — Breaking away from basing medical care on patient averages

Overview

Although symptoms of diseases and health problems not only differ from person to person but also change throughout the life stages of the same individual, it is difficult to predict symptoms on an individual level and provide medical care based on its predictive information. Thus, this research strategic objective will promote the elucidation of mechanisms that cause sex and individual differences and intrapersonal changes in specific symptoms, diseases, or health conditions, the building of future predictive models of precise risk stratification for specific diseases and at the individual level, and research that contributes to the development of new treatment and prevention methods suitable for individuals. Through this, the aim is to realize new medical care that is optimized for each individual.
