Q |
I think it is important for enterprises to tie up and cooperate with universities in order to improve their technical ability. What kind of efforts are being made in this vein?
A |
Through the enactment of the Law to Strengthen Industrial Technical Ability in April 2000 and other efforts, it has become easier than ever before for universities to tie up and cooperate with enterprises.
The enthusiastic promotion of research by universities based on requests from enterprises invigorates research by university teachers who receive new stimulation and leads to fresh discoveries. It also benefits universities by exerting positive influence on the education of students.
It is said that recently the technology of Japan's enterprises in some areas has been lagging behind that of the United States and other countries. The improvement of technological capability at enterprises is an urgent task toward the revitalization of Japan's economy, and the necessity of tie-ups and cooperation between enterprises and universities has increased.
Toward this purpose, the following efforts are being made in response to the enactment of the Law to Strengthen Industrial Technical Ability and other developments.
