Since 1992, the International Exchange Program of Traditional Cultural Activities has been carried out for the purpose of promoting international activities designed to spread information about Japanese culture and for the purpose of contributing to the promotion of cultural exchange between Japan and other countries. This is done by sending leaders of art and cultural organizations abroad to attend international meetings to provide instruction in practical skills which are rioted in Japanese tradition and which enjoy nationwide popularity.
In 1992, these leaders of art and cultural organizations were sent to Australia (bonsai. potted plants), the United States (the game of Go), Thailand(same) and Malaysia (same).
