As Japan finds itself on the brink of the 21st century, policy areas that are important to maintaining and elevating the level of Japanese art and culture are first, the encouragement of creative artistic activities and second, the fostering of various young artists who will become the next generation of leaders in their respective fields.

The Agency for Cultural Affairs is implementing the following programs toward this end.
