(l) Class Size and Quota of Teachers
b. Quota of Teachers


On the basis of school size as determined by the number of classes, the Standard Law sets the standards for calculating the quota of teachers in public elementary and lower secondary schools. The standards regarding the quota of teachers have been improved in accordance with revisions in the standards of class size, the quota of teachers being constantly increased. As is shown in Table 44, the number of full-time teachers per class in public elementary and secondary schools is greater in Japan than in, England and Wales, France and the Federal Republic of Germany.
