Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology

ABE Toshiko

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) publishes the “White Paper on Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology” to present new policy developments and initiatives in education, science and technology, sports, and culture and the arts to the general public.

MEXT White Paper for FY 2024 covered the following two themes as special features.

Special Feature 1 focuses on the “Future Vision for Improving Japan’s “Collective Knowledge and Wisdom” - Reconstructing the Higher Education System- (Report),” compiled by the Central Council for Education in February 2025, which addresses the future of higher education amid rapid decline in birthrate.

Special Feature 2, titled “Trajectory of the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games,” covers the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games held in 2024.

Education, science and technology, sports, and culture and the arts nurture people, inspire dreams, and lay the foundation for a prosperous future.

MEXT will steadily implement the necessary policies, one by one, to achieve a society where no one is left behind, where every individual can fully develop their own uniqueness and feel a true sense of happiness, and where people can look to the future with confidence, believing that tomorrow will be better than today.

We hope that this White Paper will be viewed by as many people as possible and widely utilized, thereby contributing to deeper public understanding of MEXT’s policies and related initiatives.
