研究の概要

　本研究領域の目的は、「顔認知機能の解明」をキーワードとして、心理学、脳科学、医学、工学、情報学などの幅広い分野の学際的な研究者が集結して研究を進め、最終的には、可能な限りその成果を社会に還元することにある。そのために以下の6項目を主要研究テーマとする。

　1. 脳血流計測法（fMRI、PET、光トポグラフィー等）を用いた顔認知機能の解明
　2. 電気生理学的計測法（脳波、脳磁図等）を用いた顔認知機能の解明
　3. 顔認知障害の病態生理の解明とその治療法の開発
　4. 心理学、認知科学的研究による顔認知機能の解明
　5. 動物、特にサルにおける顔認知機能の解明
　6. 工学的手法による顔認知機能の解明

Abstract of Research Project

Face perception is a very important ability for humans in terms of social communication. Disorders of face perception may cause serious communication problems in daily life, in particular, problems in education for children due to poor communication may cause serious problems in preparing for their future.  However, there have been not any systematic research groups for studying basic mechanisms and clinical problems of face perception.  Therefore, the main objective of this research project is a multidisciplinary approach to understanding the face processing mechanism by researchers in various fields such as basic and clinical medicine, psychology, cognitive science and engineering.
